Understanding Childhood Trauma

Childhood trauma is often misunderstood. It’s not just about big, obvious events—it’s also about other ways you may not have felt safe or valued.⁣

For example, growing up in an environment where you had to suppress your feelings to avoid conflict or take on responsibilities far beyond your years can deeply affect how you relate to yourself and others as an adult.

Trauma changes how we see the world. It teaches us to anticipate danger, mistrust connections, or strive endlessly to be “good enough.” These patterns often manifest in our relationships, sense of self-worth, and even our responses to stress.⁣

The healing process starts with recognizing these impacts. It’s about becoming aware of the stories you’ve carried from childhood and gently questioning, Are these really mine to hold?⁣

You’re not broken; you’re hurt and in the process of healing. Healing is about creating space for new patterns that make you feel safe, seen, and worthy.

Where do you see these patterns showing up in your life? What’s one way you can start offering yourself more compassion today?⁣
