Adults who have experienced trauma at an early age are prone to experiencing dysregulation of the nervous system, especially when stressed. Dysregulation is known to be linked to depression, addiction, anxiety and emotional outbursts.
The good news is that we can help to regulate our nervous system. The trick is to do a little often. When you decide you will do yoga for an hour a day, five days a week, when you haven’t been doing yoga at all for a year, you set yourself up to fail. It is much better to commit to doing 5 or 10 minutes of practice daily and keep that promise to yourself than going hard and then giving up. So, I invite you to print this out and put it somewhere you can see it and choose something every day that feels achievable. If you can, keep a record of what you do and notice how you feel before and after the practice. This will help you become more aware of your mind, body and emotional state and help you build up a broader repertoire of tools at your disposal.

I hope this is helpful.
