We all have memories that get stuck. I had one of walking down the aisle on my wedding day. It wasn’t a big T trauma, but for me, it was traumatic, and I had a frozen memory of it that needed to be processed.
We all have what I like to call ‘mini traumas’. EMDR is highly effective with the ‘everyday’ stuff as it is with the big stuff.
EMDR is an evidence-based trauma treatment. Over 30 controlled outcome studies have been conducted. Studies show that “90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder after only three 90-minute sessions”.
“77% of multiple trauma victims were no longer diagnosed with PTSD after only six 50-minute sessions.”
EMDR is now recognised as a treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization.
I’ll follow up with how my walking down the aisle memory processed in an EMDR session so you can get a feel for it.
Big love to all, Jen
