Slowing Down

Today, I’m intentionally slowing down.

One of the best ways to do that is to walk more slowly.

I tend to walk with no time to spare, with the top of my body leaning a little forward. I think it puts strain on my lower back and my neck.

Today, I’m choosing to be mindful about how quickly I walk. I’m walking at half pace. It’s difficult because it is not my usual rhythm. But there is something freeing in it, something of a luxury. To walk more slowly, to spend time seeing the butterflies in the garden as I walk.

In the slower movement, a subtle message tells my body that it can slow down and that I am safe.

If you feel like it, give it a try.

Try walking at half speed today, and let me know what you notice.
