Gratitude has roots in grace.
The word comes from the Latin gratia—linked to kindness, beauty, and giving. And when I connect with gratitude, I feel that beauty on the inside. I soften. I become gentler with myself and with others.
Gratitude can be directed outward—toward others, nature, or something greater than self—and inward, toward ourselves. It’s woven through every major spiritual tradition for a reason: it connects us to each other, and to something deeper.
For me, gratitude is presence. When I’m truly grateful, I land in the now—grateful for what I’m seeing, receiving, or simply being. There’s always something to be grateful for. It’s just a matter of gently turning the mind in that direction.
Write down just one thing you’re grateful for today.
The sun. A warm drink. A moment of kindness. Just one.
Let’s share—what’s one thing you’re grateful for right now?
Love, Jen
