This week, I read something that stopped me in my tracks.
Twenty-nine people who survived jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge all said the same thing. The moment they jumped, they regretted it.
In another study, Dr. Freedenthal found that of 515 people who intended to end their lives but were stopped by police, only 7% went on to die by suicide. This tells us something incredibly important: the urge to end your life can pass. It is often about one intense, overwhelming moment. In that moment, you need help and connection.
The warning signs are not always obvious. Some people share their plans, while others keep them hidden. If you are feeling suicidal, please know you are not alone, even if it feels like it right now.
Please reach out to a friend, a doctor, a counsellor. In Australia, you can call Lifeline 24/7 on 13 11 14.
You matter. Your life matters.
So much love to you all,
Jen 🪷
