It teaches you to take time to feel what is happening and what would like your awareness. You are taught to sit with the feeling and to name it, to check in again with the body and ask what it might need.
Sound simple? It is! I use this a lot when I have physical pain in my body and find after I give the pain some of my attention and focus and really be with it, it dissipates. I have heard its message and so it can fade or go completely.
