You are allowed to ask for reassurance – reassurance = safety.
The most important thing about reassurance is that it is congruent and truthful. If you feel unsure about the relationship, it is natural that your partner will feel anxious. This could be a great time to go for couple therapy, so both of you can get clear on what you want moving forward.
You might not have seen reassurance modelled to you in your family of origin, so it might be something you have to learn. Try a different form every day. Learn your partner’s love languages and try to speak them every day.
