Have you had a big traumatic thing happen, and you seem to move through it well, and then something small happens, and it seems to get stuck?
A few things could be going on:
- You had more support internally and around you when the big thing happened, so you were better resourced to process the trauma.
- The significant trauma has left an imprint, but you are unaware of it. You might find that it comes up again in future therapeutic work.
- The more minor traumas themes could be similar to the big trauma, and your psyche feels safer to process those first. However, in EMDR, we usually process the most significant trauma first to avoid this.
Has anyone else had this experience?
Big love to you all,
Jen
