Inner Child Healing Course for Anxious Attachment

A self-paced online course with psychotherapist Jennifer Nurick, author of Heal Your Anxious Attachment.

Have you ever felt your whole body tighten when a message goes unanswered? Or found yourself reaching for reassurance, again and again, even though it never quite settles you?

If so, you’re not alone, and you’re not being “too much”. Very often, these reactions come from a younger part of you, an inner child who learned long ago that love could be uncertain. That part is still doing its best to keep you safe.

The Inner Child Healing Course shows you how to meet that part with care, and how to build secure attachment from the inside.

What is inner child work?

Inner child work is the practice of turning towards the younger parts of you that still carry early experiences, feelings and needs. Rather than overriding these parts or pushing them away, you get curious about them and learn to offer what they were missing.

In my practice, I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and attachment-based therapy. Both see these younger parts not as problems to fix, but as protectors and wounded parts that need to be heard.

Signs a younger part of you is running the show

  • Your reaction feels much bigger than the situation
  • You spiral when someone is slow to reply or seems distant
  • You seek reassurance, but it doesn’t last
  • You people-please to avoid conflict or rejection
  • Afterwards, you think “why did I react like that?”

How reparenting builds secure attachment

In the most researched, evidence-based approaches to attachment, there is a clear consensus: if you grew up with insecure attachment, an essential part of healing is cultivating an inner template for a healthy, loving, attuned caregiver. I call this your loving, wise parent.

Reparenting is how you grow that part. You learn what loving care and boundaries actually sound like, and practise offering them to yourself. Over time, this cultivates secure attachment within, and that inner security begins to show up in your relationships with others. This is what’s known as earned secure attachment.

Who this course is for

This course is for you if you recognise anxious attachment patterns in yourself, you’ve read about attachment and want a practical way to work with it, or you’ve done therapy and want to go deeper with the younger parts of you. It works beautifully alongside therapy, and it can be a supportive place to begin if therapy isn’t accessible right now.
