When you’ve lived through trauma, it can feel automatic to assume you are the problem. That you overreacted. Misread it. Caused it.
But that instinct to self-blame didn’t come from nowhere. It was a survival strategy — a way to stay safe, to stay connected, to make sense of chaos when you had no power to change it.
The healing work is in slowly untangling that pattern. Learning to pause and ask, “Wait… was it really me? Or was something about this situation not okay?”
Not everything that hurt you was your fault.
And you don’t have to carry that responsibility anymore.
Remember that.
