Therapy can be expensive. But I have always seen it as a vital part of self-care. At different times in my life, I have gone without other things in order to prioritise my mental health, and it has always been worth it.
Growing up in housing commission taught me that I can be happy in any house or with any car, and I can also be unhappy in any house or with any car. For me, it has never really been about the stuff. It has always been about the quality of my relationships and my inner state of mind.
I never take my mental health for granted. Every day I wake up feeling well, I feel grateful. Mental health is one of the most important investments I have ever made, both for myself and in what I hope to pass on to others.
But what happens when you genuinely cannot afford therapy? I was thinking about this today, and I created this resource in the hope that it might help.
If you know of any helpful low-cost resources in your country, or have other ideas for finding reduced-rate support, please share them in the comments so more people can benefit.
Much love, Jen 🌻
