What Secure Attachment Feels Like

In a secure relationship, your nervous system’s resting place is in the ventral vagal state—a branch of the parasympathetic nervous system associated with social engagement, safety, and calmness.

The goal isn’t to stay in this state all the time. It’s to be able to return to it again and again. And that takes practice—especially if it’s not a state you’re used to living in.

If you’d like to learn more about Polyvagal Theory, I recommend exploring the work of Stephen Porges.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Much love,
Jen
