There’s no one “right” way to respond to trauma.
Your response is normal for you—whether it’s emotional, physical, or behavioural. Trauma can affect us all differently, and symptoms may show up in many ways, whether the event was big or small.
Most of the time, these symptoms will ease as your nervous system has time to process and integrate the experience. But if they persist for weeks or months, it’s a good idea to seek support.
In Australia, @blackdoginst runs a trauma-informed clinic, and @phoenixaus has excellent, up-to-date resources on trauma and PTSD.
With love, Jen
